SpazioFMG exhibition: TU Delft + MVRDV The Why Factory

SpazioFMGperl'Architettura, the gallery and showroom of the Iris Ceramica and FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti brands of the Iris Ceramica Group, will open the exhibition The Why Factory / Research, Education and Public Engagement / TU Delft + MVRDV” dedicated to The Why Factory, the research workshop created from the partnership between MVRDV and the Delft University of Technology Faculty of Architecture, on 8th November.
The exhibition presents part of ten years of activity by the workshop, headed by Winy Maas, one of the founders of the MVRDV architecture studio, through projects and visions centred on the cities of the future.

The “visionary” projects developed by students and researchers are the result of a combination of science and imagination, together with a humanistic approach to the problems of modern cities, which also emerged in the latestDutch Design Week curated by Winy Maas and The Why Factory. It is an invitation to architects and to all those involved in building cities to “think big once again, and concentrate on collective action instead of nurturing individual dreams”. The Why Factory aims to teach students to dream, “giving them the tools and abilities they need first to dream big, and then to be the agents of radical change” because “a dream in an architect’s imagination could one day become reality”.

For the exhibition Winy Maas will present the public at SpazioFMG with the tenth and latest work by The Why Factory “Copy Paste – The Badass Architectural Copy Guide”. Before the exhibition opening there will also be a conference entitled What’s Next? The Why Factory. Research, Education and Public Engagement, which will take place at Milan Polytechnic (at 3.30 pm in the Rogers Room, via Ampère 2, Milan).
