A restaurant in an authentic, traditional vein with a touch of sophisticated pared-down design. Rural, designed by Fabio Fantolino and his team, draws its inspiration from the principles of the Slow Food movement.

Rural, minimalism and tradition in a kitchen designed by Fabio Fantolino in Turin

Rural is a restaurant opened in Turin combining traditional aspects with sophisticated minimal design. In contrast with the frantic pace of city life, the restaurant is white, symbolising purity and wholesomeness, and incorporates a number of natural and rustic elements such as oak, stone and bare brick, inviting guests to enjoy their meals as suggested by the Slow Food movement.
Rural is not only a restaurant but a shop selling traditional foods and a bookshop selling cookbooks, underlined by the presence of two big vases.
The atmosphere Fabio Fantolino recreates is not homelike: the clean lines of the furnishings reveal openness to innovation, while decorative elements such as curtains and rough ropes recreate a traditional market atmosphere, skilfully concealing the restaurant’s amenities and practical features.
