Architect Daniel Libeskind recently unveiled plans for a new housing development in Berlin.

Libeskind residential building on Chausseestrasse - Berlin

The residential complex is Daniel Libeskind’s most recent project in Berlin, the city that is home to one of his best-known buildings, the Jewish Museum opened in 2001.

In presenting his new project, Libeskind emphasised that while his architectural practice is more and more often asked to work on skyscrapers, he actually prefers to design "houses" because they represent such an important aspect of human life.
The new eight-storey building with shops on the ground floor and an underground parking lot will be completed by 2015 on a corner lot on Chausseestrasse, in Berlin’s Mitte district.
Key features of the construction will be big asymmetrical windows letting daylight into the apartments, sloping walls and cladding with a metallic finish.
