gmp architectural studio has been awarded three prizes for its stadiums: Bao’An Stadium in Shenzhen and Shanghai Oriental Sports Center in China, and Warsaw National Stadium in Poland.
gmp architectural studio recently received some important acknowledgements for its stadiums: a gold medal for the Bao’An Stadium in Shenzhen and the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center in China, as well as a bronze medal for Warsaw National Stadium in Poland, assigned during the IOC/IAKS Award.
The studio run by architects von Gerkan, Marg and Partners (gmp) took home more prizes than any other at the biennial awards presented by the International Association for Sports and Leisure Facilities (IAKS), the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).
In 2013 the contest, first held in 1987, saw the participation of 97 projects from 30 different countries, including (IPC/IAKS Distinction) awards for stadiums that allow everyone at all levels of physical ability to practise sports.
