Natural interferences by LAN_laboratorio architetture naturali

Bringing together architecture, matter and space in a sound incubator is the mission completed by the designers from LAN_laboratorio architetture naturali for the Mukanda Festival in Gargano, Apulia (Italy), with their installation called “Interferenze naturali”.



The Mukanda Festival in Vico del Gargano, province of Foggia, Italy is a festival aimed at rediscovering the city's historical centre, with a special focus on reviving abandoned sites and non-places through music, visual and performing arts.





This is the backdrop for the installation “Interferenze naturali” - natural interferences - designed by Francesco Poli, co-founder of LAN_laboratorio architetture naturali (link articles), , known to our readers for their site-specific creations, including land art and building with natural materials.





The work was conceived as a visual interface between the sound scenarios of the festival and the unique panorama of Largo del Conte in the old town of Vico del Gargano. An open weave for sight and sound, made from strips of bamboo and rope to create a light architectural construction that wraps around the stage and underscores the timeless feel of its very site.



“Interferenze naturali” is the output of an educational design workshop aimed at providing the basic techniques of building with plant materials. The result is testimony to the synergy between a built environment and nature, where the choice of shapes and organic materials underscores the function of architecture as a mediator between man and nature.
