Italian architecture firm, LAN_Laboratorio Architetture Naturali, has responded to Art Save the City association’s invitation with an art installation made from bamboo, sisal rope and synthetic twine at Spazio Pasubio in Parma.

The city as an expression of civilisation has the same function as art, it being an expression of human creativity. So, the LAN_Laboratorio Architetture Naturali artwork is proposed as a tool to bring nature back into the cityscape.

Some of the materials used in their artistic installation – bamboo, sisal rope and synthetic twine – form the basis of their research.

Bamboo is one of nature’s consummate sustainable materials: it grows back quickly, it doesn’t need any special care, it’s cheap and it’s as flexible to shape as it is to utilise.

The installation on show at Spazio Pasubio, an old industrial complex that has been converted for cultural use in Parma, is a tribute to nature as the germ of a possible change, a silkworm emerging from its cocoon, a bud representing a new beginning”.
The installation entitled “NatureWAR(P)” is part of Art Save the City – ART EXHIBITION open until 13 October 2013 and promoted by the Pensare per Fare (think to do) association together with the Municipality of Parma.
