Exhibition - Norway. Architecture, Infrastructure, Landscape. The exhibition “Norway, Architecture, Infrastructure. Landscape. Photographs by Ken Schluchtmann” opened in SpazioFMG, IrisFMG gallery and showroom in Milan. A journey to Norway as a theme in keeping with the season.

Over summer, SpazioFMG is hosting“Norway, Architecture, Infrastructure. Landscape. Photographs by Ken Schluchtmann”, concept by Ken Schluchtmann, curated by Luca Molinari and Alessandro Benetti in collaboration with Christiane Bürklein. A unique opportunity to get to know the majestic landscapes of Norway that multi award-winning German photographer Ken Schluchtmann has immortalised, as well as the ideas of the people behind these infrastructures and the constructions that aim to promote tourism as a means of underpinning and supporting the local economy in Norway.

Indeed, every photographic project is accompanied by a folder containing technical drawings and detailed descriptions by the architects to provide all the information needed about the project, including its actual location. The exhibition set-up underscores the idea of the journey: wooden crates with the map of Norway are used as tables for the folders and reference the itinerant nature of the National Tourist Routes.

The conference at the Milan Politecnico on 23 June - moderated by Alessandro Benetti and Gennaro Postiglione - delved more closely into the theme of the exhibition: making the landscape useable through the combined use of architecture, infrastructure and nature. So the addresses by designers Beate Hølmebakk and Per Tansen (Manthey Kula) and by Jette Cathrin Hopp (Snøhetta) analysed the approach to architecture that communicates with the context, and with the tough climatic conditions, while photographer Ken Schluchtmann talked about his experience on the National Tourist Routes, capturing that particular genius loci of these human operations in the majestic landscape. The image - and therefore the photographer as mediator between architect and audience - becomes the messenger of the design idea, sharing with us his visual narrative of a country begging to be explored.

The exhibition is open every Thursday and Friday from 4 pm to 7.30 pm and by appointment for groups of more than 5 people. A great occasion to look at "these architectural projects (that) demonstrate the ability, which should not be taken for granted, to interpret any project, however reduced the scale and prosaic its function, as an opportunity to build a quality large-scale landscape: an opportunity not to be wasted." as we can read in the introduction written by Alessandro Benetti and Luca Molinari.
