The first monographic Italian retrospective dedicated to Gerrit Rietveld and his work as a designer and craftsman has opened at Maxxi in Rome.



UNIVERSO RIETVELD exhibition at Maxxi in Rome From his relations with artists in the De Stijl group and architects Le Corbusier, Gropius, Mies van der Rohe and Frank Lloyd Wright to his influence on contemporary architecture and design, the exhibition at Maxxi in Rome until July 10 covers all aspects of the work and career of Dutch architect Gerrit Rietveld.
The exhibition includes about 400 drawings, photos and models illustrating over 100 works of architecture and design.

Rietveld?s relationship with the 21st century is represented through interviews with contemporary architects and designers such as Gae Aulenti, Andrea Branzi, Vittorio Gregotti and Enzo Mari, while an installation by the MAXXI Department of Education entitled Rietveld Workshop, designed by Rintala Eggertsson Architects of Scandinavia, allows visitors to experiment with the construction of some of Rietveld?s furniture.
