Light and colour in urban photography

Light and colour in urban photography
Andrea Pucci lives in London and photographs urban architecture with its expressive lights and colours. An approach to photography that is rooted in Italy, his country of origin, the place where he discovered the pleasures of portraying nature.
But his move from Pisa to London changed the way he sees things, as the city became the subject of his images.
His photographs of city buildings tell a story of light and colour, night and the effects of light and shadow.
Shots immortalising the city’s melancholically joyful side. With Andrea Pucci, light and colour become both objects and subjects, for his photographs combine long exposures with the accelerated rhythms of bright reflections.
The photograph says of his work: "I soon discovered an aspect of the urban landscape that was to change my concept of photography forever: artificial light, and with it, the possibility of taking pictures at night, immortalising a new world. Only the night, with its skilful blend of light and dark, can give buildings that aura of mystery I seek in my photos. Trails of colour, bright stars and long exposure times have become an integral part of many of my photographs."
Thus his photographs manage to translate his poetics of urban photography into images rich in hidden content to be discovered every time they are seen. Andrea Pucci’s images must be seen again and again, day after day, looking at them over and over, as every look calls up new emotions.
