A hundred social housing developments<br />
Fabio Mantovani sets off on a voyage exploring social architecture in Italy, a recent time of ideologies and cultivated references that has made its mark on the outskirts of Italian cities.  The photographer looks at how people dwell in the spaces of ideological thought.
His project Cento case popolari is a mosaic of eight projects, images representing the present-day condition of eight social housing projects: Rozzol Melara in Trieste, Gallaratese in Milano, Forte Quezzi in Genoa, Pilastro+Virgolone and Barca in Bologna, Le Piagge in Florence, Corviale in Rome, Villaggio Matteotti in Terni and ZEN in Palermo.
Mantovani’s lens captures the people who pass through these places, putting together an unusual fresco packed with interpersonal relations. The photographer’s vision focuses on the relationship between the human figure and the location, whatever its geographic position, as editor Sara Marini notes: "Mantovani’s lucid eye focuses decisively on the relationship between body and space: there are no stars, there are just long-distance relationships. These one hundred photographs focus on two things: architecture as it survives, both as a manufacture and as a concept, and the people captured by the lens along their way, laden with histories that chisel their features, wishing to pass across the stage with their changing diversity."
