Studio ELT has converted twin grain silos in the province of Naples into a new hotel.

Studio ELT, Hotel Poseidon
ELT architectural studio has designed a hotel for the Mercure hotel chain in Torre del Greco, focusing on the themes of location in relation to the harbour and the town?s local traditions and its relationship with the sea and with coral.

The building stands on the same area as the former Mulini Marzoli, two grain towers built in the '50s. In the new project the architects preserve the form and volume of the existing buildings while establishing new spatial relationships within them.

Seven circular openings of different sizes in strategic positions form wells of light piercing the ceilings from the level of the foyer all the way up to the roof, generating a direct perception of the building?s verticality which contrasts with the horizontal space of the foyer.
In the hotel rooms, the architects decided to work with chromatic elements, and the colours of sand, water and coral become the key to evocation of the marine environment.
