“You can’t escape architecture!” is the title of the eighth Architecture Film Festival held in Budapest by the Hungarian Contemporary Architecture Centre – KÉK.

Budapest Architecture Film Days

The eighth Architecture Film Festival held in Budapest by the Hungarian Contemporary Architecture Centre – KÉK) is coming up, focusing on the transformations of cities and communities. The title “You can’t escape architecture!” refers to the fact that we cannot escape change, but we can learn from the past.
The city of Budapest itself has undergone significant transformations in recent years that have remodelled a number of historic sites and important public spaces.
The festival will present the public with a vast selection of films about contemporary architecture, design and urban planning, offering new points of view and perspectives from which to monitor recent changes in the city. The selection of films presented for the eighth edition embraces a decade, enough time to assess the urban effects of a number of important cultural projects, such as redevelopment of the Dutch Rijksmuseum or reconstruction of Alexanderplatz in Berlin. A series of events and meetings with directors and other key personalities will accompany the screenings, and FREAKS freearchitects will be a special guest at the festival. Initiatives will include presentation of the projects of Japanese studio SANAA, winner of the design contest for Budapest’s new National Gallery.
