The London Design Festival 2016

London is hosting the London Design Festival - a creative-oriented week in a number of “design destinations” around the UK capital - from 17 to 25 September 2016. These are the key events.



The London Design Festival, is part of the autumn creative season, together with London Fashion Week, the Frieze Art Fair and the London Film Festival. First staged in 2003 with the aim of promoting London as the design capital of the world and as the gateway for the international design community, over the years it has built up a great following.



To welcome all forms of interior design, the London festival is structured into a number of key events across the city, large group shows called “design destinations”. Each one of these represents distinguishing traits that stress the multifaceted nature of both the industry and London itself.



So, 100% Design & Luxurymade is being held at the Olympia London from 21 to 24 September. It has five sections under this year's theme - “Experience” - comprising Interiors, Workplace, Kitchens & Bathrooms, Design & Build and Emerging Brands, and talks curated by Design Museum as part of their “on loan” campaign (see article), with activity out and about in Kensington until the museum opens on 24 November 2016. 





Decorex International will run from 18 to 21 September in the historic venue of Syon Park and sees the return of ‘Future Heritage’, exhibiting work by some of the leading names in British craft and focusing on new materials and techniques.
Then, from 22 to 25 September, designjunction at King's Cross. The venue and the themes of this event deserve a closer look, and we'll be showcasing the four exhibitions in their respective locations.





Focus/16, dedicated to the luxury sector is taking place at the Design Centre in Chelsea Harbour from 18 to 23 September and the London Design Fair, from 22 to 25 September, is located in the Truman Brewery in East London. As you can see, a really great opportunity to see new places and discover the London design scene and venues!
