Urban Office Architecture, Aviator's Villa

A home designed around the idea of flight. An architectural landmark characterised by its lightness and geometry. Created by Urban Office Architecture of New York for a retired pilot, the Aviator's Villa is inspired by dismantled aircraft components. Like the fuselage in flight, the building it designed to ensure that every side is exposed to the air.

Situated on a piece of hilly land near a lake in Duchess County, NY, the home is designed around three main spaces: the kitchen, the library and the bedroom, arranged in ascending order of ideal use.

Forms are designed to let in as much natural light as possible, while at the same time recalling a plane in the choice of materials: big windows and perforated metal panels.
