UIA Durban 2014. 25th World Congress UIA in South Africa.
Sunday, 3 August, there was the opening of the 25th International Union of Architects World Congress of Architects, UIA 2014 Durban, at the International Convention Centre in Durban.
The event is organized every three years in a different city of the world. The Congress theme is “ARCHITECTURE OTHERWHERE” and is all about the power of architecture to drive social change, towards a better life for all.
UIA 2014 Durban is a great opportunity for Southern Africa, the first time hosting the event, to showcase the development of its built environment in the twenty years since democracy.
The importance of UIA 2014 Durban not only for the world of architecture but for the whole nation is shown by the fact that Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu has endorsed the Congress, becoming the patron.
Floornature as media partner will follow the congress, sharing the many events and initiatives not only limited to the official programme with famous keynote speakers like Toyo Ito, Joe Osae-Addo we met at the opening of the Architecture Biennale in Venice, or Cameron Sinclair, founder of Architecture for Humanity.
