The winners of the 13th Architecture Biennale in Venice

The Golden and Silver Lions awarded at the 13th International Architecture Exhibition, Common Ground, directed by architect David Chipperfield.



The winners of the 13th Architecture Biennale in Venice

During the opening day of the 13th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice, the jury of architects, composed of: Kristin Feireiss, Robert A.M.Stern, Benedetta Tagliabue, Alan Yentob with President, Wiel Arets, selected the official winners of the 2012 edition.

The Golden Lion for Best National Participation was awarded to Japan, for: Architecture possible here? Home-for-All project by architect Toyo Ito, commissioner of the pavilion, together with the team of young architects: Naoya Hatakeyama; Kumiko Inui; Sou Fujimoto; Akihisa Hirata. The Golden Lion for Best Project was awarded to Torre David / Gran Horizonte, 2012 by Urban-Think Tank (Alfredo Brillembourg, Hubert Klumpner), Justin McGuirk and Iwan Baan, on exhibition at Corderie, Arsenale.

Grafton Architects (Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara) won the Silver Lion for a promising architecture practice. The jury also awarded 4 Special Mentions to the submissions from Poland, the United States, Russia and to the installation by architect Cino Zucchi.
