The hand of the graphic designer exhibition

Milan,

Ville, underground, Cinemas,

Exhibition,

After the hand of the architect (2009) and the hand of the designer (2010), FAI (Fondo Ambiente Italiano – the Italian National Trust) and Alterstudio Partners are holding the last event in the cycle of exhibitions on design, focusing on the work of the graphic artist.

The hand of the graphic designer exhibition Pens and pencils for Italo Lupi, Giancarlo Iliprandi, Erik Spiekermann and Matthew Carter, ink and quills for calligrapher James Clough, paints for Alek Jordan, collage for Atelier Vostok, paper for Fanette Mellier, digital sketches for Esther Lee, a mixture of graphics and art, graphics and film or music: a great variety of techniques and disciplines are involved in the creation of the graphic sketches and visual communications projects that crop up everywhere in our daily lives: from the design of a letter to the layout of a magazine, from a subway map to an icon or an interface for a pc or smart phone.
The exhibition formula, conceived and presented by Francesca Serrazanetti and Matteo Schubert under the supervision of Pietro Corraini, an expert in the graphic arts, is unvaried: an exhibition of signed sketches and drawings by 108 of the most authoritative Italian and international graphic artists donated to Fai. All to report on what goes on behind the scenes of the graphic artist’s trade and collect funds to finance restoration and maintenance work on the monuments FAI takes care of.
