Regeneration of Pirelli 39 awarded to Diller Scofidio + Renfro and Stefano Boeri Architetti
January 28 saw the presentation of the project by Diller Scofidio + Renfro (DS+R) and Stefano Boeri Architetti, winners of the international architecture competition announced in November 2019 for regeneration of the real estate complex at Via Pirelli 39. The project is part of a plan for redevelopment of a vast area, practically a whole city district, which began with Gioia 22 and will be completed in the years to come with projects for the Pirelli 35 and Gioia 20 buildings.

Winners of the 2021 CTBUH Best Tall Building Awards
The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat recently announced the annual Best Tall Building Award of Excellence Winners in a number of categories. Koichi Takada Architects’ Arc in Sydney, Sou Fujimoto, Nicolas Laisné and Oxo Architects’ White Tree in Montpellier, France, Heatherwick Studiop’s Eden in Singapore, Studio Gang’s MIRA Tower in San Francisco, WOHA’s Sky Green in Taichung, Taiwan, Zaha Hadid Architects Leeza SOHO in Beijing and One Thousand Museum in Miami, and Safdie Architects’ Raffles City Chongqing in the Chinese city of the same name are only a few of the skyscrapers selected by CTBUH that have been described in Floornature.

Heatherwick’s EDEN, the studio’s first residential project in Singapore
The architects of Heatherwick Studio have completed their first residential project in Asia. EDEN is a "super-green" skyscraper 104 metres high in Singapore’s historic Newton district inspired by Lee Kuan Yew’s original concept of a "city in a garden". The entire complex contains only 20 apartments featuring crafted details and combining passive climate control with a refined concept of luxury.

CLOU Architects designs the Shoukai Vanke Centre Beijing
CLOU Architects completed the new Shoukai Vanke Centre in Beijing’s Daxing district. It is an extensive, mixed-use development with a shopping mall, office tower and hotel. It has been designed with a focus on outdoor spaces, integral elements of this iconic architecture.

InterContinental Chongqing Raffles City designed by Moshe Safdie with interiors by CL3
The metropolis of Chongqing in southwest China has a new landmark, Chongqing Raffles City, an urban complex that sits on the Yangtze River in Chaotianmen Square. The architecture was designed by Moshe Safdie, and the Chinese studio CL3 Architects were responsible for the interior design. The recently opened InterContinental Chongqing Raffles City hotel is a standout tenant of the complex.

H Code, building for urban renewal, CL3
The founder of CL3 Architects Limited, William Lim and the studio’s head of design, Clinton Tsoi completed the H Code project in Hong Kong. The multipurpose architecture is formed of a low-rise volume and a high-rise volume and aims to be a symbol of pondered, harmonious urban renewal.

Farewell to Henry Cobb, architect who designed the John Hancock Tower in Boston
American architect Henry Cobb died on March 2 at the age of 93, just under one year after the death of his longtime partner, I.M. Pei. Cobb was considered as one of the great architects of our time, with the John Hancock Tower in Boston being one of the most famous works he designed in his long career. In Italy, with his firm Pei Cobb Freed & Partners, he designed Palazzo Lombardia, seat of Lombardy’s regional government.
