The work of landscape architecture and urban planning studio LANDPROCESS has made this urban non-place into the nation’s first pedestrian bridge park spanning a river, an oasis of well-being for people, flora and fauna.

Torre Fara, futurism and sustainability

Hacker Architects renovate Salem Public Library

Salem Public Library, in Salem, Oregon, is a concrete and glass structure designed by George Rockrise and Donald Richardson in 1970. Hacker Architects and local residents made sure that the building’s Brutalist architecture was skilfully preserved, improving its structural resistance and construction systems to meet the requirements of today’s standards.

MVRDV transforms a shopping centre in Lyon

What to do with an old shopping centre from the ’70s such as La Part-Dieu, right in the centre of Lyon, France? - Call Dutch studio MVRRDV and ask them to transform it in a way that not only sustainably reuses a lot of the materials from the existing building, but reorganises and expands its internal programmes, making an urban dinosaur into an attractive location for the citizenry and revitalising its surroundings.

Mahos Architecture’s addition to a home in a vineyard

Mahos Architecture, the French studio of Lucile Maurel and Camille Hours, designed an addition to a family home in Provence to provide extra living space and panoramic views over the vineyard. The geometry of the addition is based on the proportions of the home and extension of the existing façades in harmony with the landscape.

The Athletes House by AR Design: a balance of the contemporary and the traditional

Multi-award-winning architecture firm AR Design, based in Winchester, last year completed a project in Hampshire dubbed ‘The Athletes House’. The brief was to extend a private 1950s home in a way that deftly combined the clients’ passion - triathlon - with a desire to blend the contemporary with the traditional.
