Vitra Design Museum - German Design 1949–1989 Two Countries, One History Exhibition

Following the long closure imposed by regulations put in place to help contain the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, on March 20 the Vitra Design Museum will finally reopen its spaces to the public with "German Design 1949–1989 Two Countries, One History", the first exhibition that takes a close look at the post-war design of the two divided Germanies. The works on display cover a range of different design areas and, in some cases, are considered true icons of their reference sectors. The result is a rather interesting comparative analysis between the ideological and aesthetic differences that characterised East and West, but also of the parallels and the interrelationships between the two.

Lina Bo Bardi awarded Special Golden Lion in memoriam at the Biennale Architettura 2021

Architect Hashim Sarkis, curator of the 17th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, recommended Lina Bo Bardi as this year’s recipient of the Special Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement in memoriam, proposal accepted by the Board of Directors of the Venice Biennale. The announcement was made on March 8, 2021, on the occasion of Women’s Day. For Hashim Sarkis, the Italian-born architect, designer, scenographer, artist and critic, naturalised as a Brazilian citizen, most fittingly embodies the theme of the Biennale Architettura 2021, identifying in the design of the São Paulo Museum the greatest example of her ability to transform architecture into a social art.

"China Goes Urban. The City to Come" exhibition on at the MAO in Turin

The exhibition titled "China Goes Urban. The City to Come” is on at the Museum of Oriental Art (MAO) in Turin until May 9, curated by the Polytechnic University of Turin and by Prospekt Photographers, in collaboration with the Tsinghua University in Beijing and the Intesa Sanpaolo bank. An interesting journey into the city and into Chinese architecture, to understand the present and the future without trying to encapsulate it within pre-defined categories and models.
