Rafael Moneo awarded Golden Lion for Lifelong Achievement at the Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia 2021
The Board of Directors of La Biennale di Venezia welcomed the proposal made by architect Hashim Sarkis, curator of the 17th International Architecture Exhibition, to award a Golden Lion for Lifelong Achievement to Rafael Moneo.

Resilient Communities: the Italian Pavilion at Biennale di Venezia
In a live-streamed event on April 23, architect Alessandro Melis presented "Resilient Communities", the Italian Pavilion at the 17th International Architecture Exhibition at La Biennale di Venezia, promoted by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Culture. The theme of the pavilion becomes a voyage in search of answers to the momentous challenges facing architecture and our way of living on Earth today, not in order to simplify them, but to acknowledge the complexity that surrounds us.

Exhibition marking the 60th birthday of Arne Jacobsen’s SAS Royal Hotel
Opened in 1960, the SAS Royal Hotel is one of Arne Jacobsen’s most iconic buildings, and one of Denmark’s first skyscrapers. The Danish Architecture Centre marks the occasion with an exhibition entitled "SAS Royal Hotel-A Love Story”, taking a look at the well-known Danish architect and designer’s Gesamtkunstwerk.

Biennale Architettura 2021 due to open on May 22
Biennale President Roberto Cicutto and curator Hashim Sarkis have confirmed the dates of the 17th International Architecture exhibition, entitled “How will we live together?”, May 22 through November 21, 2021 at the Giardini, the Arsenale and Forte Marghera, with the usual pre-opening on May 20 and 21. The live-streamed presentation saw the participation of Christopher Turner, who, along with Ella Kilgallon, curates the 2021 Applied Arts Pavilion under a partnership between La Biennale di Venezia and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

Emerging architects - The winners of the Europe 40under40® Award
The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design have announced the winners of the 2020 edition of the "Europe 40under40®" Award. The challenges associated with the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic have not hampered the recognition reserved for young European architects and designers. An award that looks to the future, in search of new emerging figures in the field of architecture and design: 40 professionals under the age of 40, who best represent the European architectural scene.

Square! Positively shrinking at the Estonian Pavilion in the Architecture Exhibition at Biennale Venezia 2021
Estonia will be participating in the 17th International Architecture Exhibition at Biennale di Venezia, "How will we live together?", curated by architect Hashim Sarkis. Starting on May 22, at the country’s pavilion in the Arsenale complex, the Estonian Centre for Architecture will present the exhibition “Square! Positively shrinking”, curated by Jiří Tintěra, Garri Raagmaa, Kalle Vellevoog, Martin Pedanik and Paulina Pähn, investigating the role of quality urban space in the future development of small towns with declining populations.
