Souto de Moura designs the Ponte de Lima 3 house in Portugal

Eduardo Souto de Moura, winner of the 2011 Pritzker Prize, is one of Portugal’s most prominent architects. His recent plan for house in Ponte de Lima 3, an house in northern Portugal, ideally represents his poetics of form while at the same time expressing a sense of sustainability based on knowledge of and respect for the history of the place.

The Binh Thanh house is a good introduction to the contemporary architecture of Ho Chi Minh, as seen from the point of view of Vo Trong Nghia Architects, a young but well-established Vietnamese studio. Its characteristic bare concrete façade serves as a sunshade. The work makes use of traditional local forms, interpreted with a view to achieving sustainability.

The first project to be built under the Solo Houses programme is a holiday home designed by Mauricio Pezo and Sofia von Ellrichshausen in Cretas, in the Matarraña region of southern Catalonia.
