Othernity, Hungary at the 17th Architecture Biennale

Othernity, the Hungarian exhibition at the 2021 Venice Architecture Biennale, provides thought-provoking answers to an important question: what lessons can be learnt from the legacy of architectural modernism left behind in Central and Eastern Europe? The answers offered by the 12 emerging studios invited to participate in the initiative are presented in a captivating way, while at the same time providing interesting inputs for other geographical contexts.

O'Donnell + Tuomey design Central European University in Budapest

The ongoing pandemic has resulted in exhibitions and events, such as the RIBA International Prize, being postponed. Waiting for the 2021 edition, let’s look back at one of the finalists of the last edition: the project designed by architecture firm O'Donnell + Tuomey for the first construction phase of the Central European University (CEU) in Budapest. The project was the recipient of several awards including, among others, the Women in Architecture Awards Architect of the Year 2019, which went to architect Sheila O'Donnell.
