In the Sustainable Farm Pavilion New Holland Agriculture presents its products applying technology to the mechanisation of agriculture and to sustainability at Expo Milano 2015, in a construction designed on the basis of the principles of sustainable architecture and energy conservation.
Tecnoappalti, winners of a competition held to award the tender, built the pavilion entirely dry, with no mortar, cement or other binders, with foundations and a frame made primarily of steel. The floors inside are all raised and covered with Graniti Fiandre’s ACTIVE tiles, a material also used in different sizes and colours on the steps and ramp outside the pavilion. Use of ACTIVE eco-active ceramic combines aesthetic qualities with anti-pollutant and anti-bacterial properties, important in high traffic places.
The technologies adopted in construction of the pavilion reduce the amount of time necessary to assemble and then dismantle it and make it possible to reuse most of the building components without any demolition work. Photovoltaic panels built into the windows on the southern side limit the pavilion’s energy consumption, and when Expo Milano 2015 is over they will be dismantled and reused in a new location to perform a new function.
