The project proposed by the group including Nemesi&Partners Srl (Rome), Proger SpA (Pescara) and BMS Progetti Srl (Milan) has won the international design competition for the Italian Pavilion at Expo2015.
The concept behind the pavilion, "Italy as nursery: a place to grow, develop and learn. A laboratory of ideas" was presented on 20 November 2012 by Diana Bracco, general commissioner for the Italian pavilion, and Marco Balich, who came up with the idea.
The jury chaired by engineer Antonio Acerbo looked at 68 projects submitted from all over the world, and presented award to 4 projects in addition to the competition winner.

Architect Michele Molè of Nemesi&Partners explained the idea behind the project when the competition results were announced: overturning the traditional concept of the exhibition pavilion and making it into a representation of the concept of community, "a project which is not a single object but a relational, community construction organised around a plaza, a big empty space constituting the true heart of the project".
