Through the windows of SpazioFMGperl'Architettura, the gallery in Milan operated by Iris Ceramica and FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti, one immediately notices four huge letters forming the word LAND and standing for the philosophy inspiring the studio of the same name, founded in 1990 by Andreas Kipar and Giovanni Sala: Landscape Architecture Nature Development.
This bold signal, visible right from the street, welcomed the numerous visitors who came to see the exhibition on its opening day, November 11: representatives of public institutions and above all architects, co-workers and fans of the work accomplished by LAND studio in its first twenty-five years. Aware of the growing importance of the role of landscape architecture professionals in the processes of transformation, management and regeneration of land, Andreas Kipar and Giovanni Sala set up LAND to bring together a group of professionals concerned with landscape and environmental planning of land use on the basis of new multidisciplinary models of development which encompass not only urban planning and architecture but political and economic concerns too, with an important focus on aesthetics, perception and, of course, ecology, in line with the latest new trends in Europe.
As Luca Molinari explains, the exhibition underway at SpazioFMGperl’Architettura "underlines the search for quality and all-round sustainability, along with the ability to organise and make the most of potential which is already present in the area at various levels, from the urban to the regional and national scale".
