"Growing for the world. Cultivating for the future" is the theme of the Russian pavilion at Expo Milano 2015, designed by architects Sergey Tchoban, Alexey Ilyin and Marina Kuznetskaya of Speech architectural studio.
With its ambitious shape culminating in a 30 metre long canopy roof pointing towards the sky and its wooden façade made of sustainable ecological materials, the pavilion designed by Speech is a metaphor for Noah’s Ark.
The semi-transparent ground floor interior is made up of a series of open spaces, while the upper part features hanging gardens leading up to an overhanging green roof offering a different viewpoint for viewing the Expo site.

Inside the pavilion, real objects and interactive routes made possible by advanced technologies offer visitors an opportunity to discover the agricultural products and the variety of natural environments and climate zones of Russia, Russian scientists’ contributions to agriculture and food safety, and the ethnic cuisines and regional specialties of the various peoples who live in the country.
