On the occasion of the first satellite event at the World Architecture Festival (WAF) held in London at the end of June, the finalists competing for the World Architecture Award 2015 were announced, selected from among more than 700 candidates from 47 different nations. We take a look at some of the competing projects that have been presented in Floornature.
We start in London, where finalists include the London Aquatics Centre designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, winner of the RIBA National Award 2014, discussed at length in Floornature.
In the Schools - Completed Buildings category, candidates include Gammel Hellerup High School designed by BIG (Bjarke Ingles Group) and recently concluded with the completion of the second phase of the project.
In the Principality of Monaco, Foster + Partners designed the new Yacht Club, a candidate in the Hotel And Leisure - Completed Buildings section. In Asia we have the Interlace skyscraper designed by Rem Koolhaas' studio OMA in Singapore, winner of the first Urban Habitat Award presented by CTBUH in 2014.
