Since 1980, when he was only twenty, the architect has been asking the local government to do something to fill in the gap, and now the task has been assigned to his studio.
The Glass Farm will be a multipurpose building containing commercial and recreational activities between the church, the town hall and the main street.
The architects decided that the form of the "glass farm" would be that of a traditional Schijndel farm building, and to create the image of a “typical farm", studio MVRDV worked with artist Frank van der Salm, who photographed all the existing farm buildings in the area. The resulting image will be printed on the glass covering the building, creating effects of transparency and opacity depending on the requirements of the spaces inside.
