Massimo Iosa Ghini
Hanover Station

Massimo Iosa Ghini,

Hannover,

underground,

An architect who has designed works of international importance, Massimo Iosa Ghini has been working on the refurbishment of the Kröpcke underground railway station in Hanover, coming up with an innovative and original idea which makes particular use of ceramic granite.

Massimo Iosa Ghini<br> Hanover Station The shapes of the boxes and the extra walls have been designed to facilitate the flow of passengers; other solutions have increased the level of comfort (reduction of noise on the platforms by insulating the false ceiling; ergonomic seating, use of pale restful colours) and safety (placing mirrors so that passengers can see behind columns, plus the addition of new elements with shapes that improve visual control).
The system of redesigned objects defined in the project can be standardised and used in other stations too.
