León Jimenes Cultural Centre Special attention was paid to lighting and finishes in the project. The Visual Arts Hall is lit by a combination of artificial and natural light, indirect and filtered. The inner courtyard is lit up by a huge skylight.
The hall and common services areas are paved with 30x60 slabs of structured Ardesia Verde from GranitiFiandre.
In the hall above all, the offset laying scheme helped create a dynamic feel, inviting the visitor to go ahead and continue the visit. The light colour of the material fits in perfectly with the light effects and the strong colours of the walls.
The new complex with its 7300 square metres of floor space goes beyond the traditional vision of the museum as simply an exhibition place, offering itself as a facility for integration of the community, a place which is special not only because of its content but because of its strong symbolic value too.
