The event scheduled for May 8th in Pavia, as part of the "Conversazioni pavesi", a series of events organised by Associazione Pavia Città Internazionale dei Saperi, will feature architect José Oubrerie, Le Corbusier’s last assistant.
José Oubrerie will talk with architect Remo Dorigati about his last project with Le Corbusier: the church of Saint-Pierre de Firminy-Vert.
The project, completed in 2006, fully 46 years after the first sketch was drawn and 41 years after Le Corbusier’s death, inevitably raises questions about Oubrerie’s decisions in relation to the heritage left behind by the great master. The French architect has interpreted Le Corbusier’s teachings and ideas and translated them for today’s reality, maintaining the general principles behind the design while redefining its details, materials and proportions.
The volume José Oubrerie e Le Corbusier. Saint-Pierre de Firminy-Vert. Continuità o tradimento? (José Oubrerie and Le Corbusier. Saint-Pierre de Firminy-Vert. Continuity or betrayal?), published by Skira and edited by Andrea Vaccari and Luca Micotti with texts by Marco Borsotti, Remo Dorigati, Giuliano Gresleri and Luca Micotti, published with the support of the Frate Sole Foundation in Pavia, will be presented at the event.
