On the Venetian coast, where the old Monte Berico holiday camp used to stand, a new residential complex is to become the focus of Lido di Jesolo.

Jesolo Lido Village<br>Richard Meier. 2004 The typical residential unit in the village will be a two-bedroom apartment with an outdoor staircase shared with other apartments and a garden on the ground floor. This residential unit is designed to create an alternation of full and empty spaces.
The entire project is made possible by an urban development plan approved in 2002 which marks the beginning of a new era for the city of Jesolo - after twenty years of waiting.
It is intended to give the provincial town a facelift to make it more attractive to holiday-makers and give it an architectural character of its own. The complex, only 70 metres from the sea, will have a light, airy look but will inevitably create controversy and opposition because of the tall tower blocks to be built so close to the sea. However that may be, the project is sure to make a strong mark in the area, and become the landmark of the new Jesolo.
