Jean-François Bodin's Cité de l'Architecture in Paris

Recovery/Restoration,

A superb renovation project by architect Jean-François Bodin has restored the attraction of Paris' Palais de Chaillot and offers the public an overview of France's great architectural heritage.

Jean-François Bodin's Cité de l'Architecture in Paris The museum's historic entrance in the head pavilion in the Trocadero offers access to exhibitions for which admission is charged: three permanent galleries hosting a major collection of plaster casts of historical Medieval and Renaissance French architecture made in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries by the historic Beaux-Arts school which look just like the original works, important temporary exhibitions, classrooms and a library open free of charge.
The route along the building's main axis takes visitors to the other end, where there is an entrance that originally belonged to the museum of film but is now dedicated to specialists: professionals, students, enterprises, associations and forums.
On the first floor is a splendid gallery covering the history of modern architecture from the mid-nineteenth century to the present through 11 themes, with models, designs, audiovisual presentations and a reproduction of a module in Le Corbusier's living unit.
The auditorium, the exhibition space and the classroom make the building more of a cultural centre than a museum.
