The exhibition currently at the Perry Rubenstein Gallery in Los Angeles, the first retrospective of 8 years of work, shows a different side of the work of Iwan Baan, part photography, part architecture and part socio-cultural research. Through his images, in various countries in the world, the photographer documents the way of life of his contemporaries, capturing and freezing on filmthe relationship between humans and the power of the constructed environment, and therefore also the impact that a natural disaster may have.
This is the case of the area of Manhattan after hurricane Sandy, "City and the Storm? published in New York Magazine on 12 November 2012 and the central work around which the exhibition at the Perry Rubenstein Gallery is constructed.
