Hungarian Pavilion Expo Milano 2015

The Hungarian Pavilion for Expo Milano 2015 was presented during the “Participants’ Weekend” held on March 14 and 15 at Expo Gate, the pavilion designed by Scandurra Studio.
The title of the Hungarian Pavilion, "From the purest source", is a reference to one of the country’s greatest resources: its spas.
The Hungarian Pavilion focuses on three main themes: “the healthful traditions” of the Hungarian model of farming, in which private orchards and gardens contrast with intensive monocultures, “the country of water” focusing on Hungary’s water and spa resources, and “the inheritance of the future”, about research and innovation for the protection of diversity and the importance of organic agriculture. The three themes translate into a pavilion enclosed between two enormous shamanic drums recalling the mystical relationship between man and nature and the country's ancient roots. In the central part, the pavilion is shaped like a big barrel with a roof garden at the top. The pavilion’s steel structure will allow it to be taken apart and reused elsewhere, and after Expo Milano 2015 it will be moved to Szombathely, to the Hussar Barracks, to become a Research Centre.
