Honorary Fellowship Awards for Mario Cucinella and Giancarlo Mazzanti
Honorary Fellowships will be presented at the AIA Conference on Architecture 2017 on April 28 to recipients including Italian architect Mario Cucinella and architect Giancarlo Mazzanti, winner of Floornature’s 2016 Next Landmark contest.
The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has awarded 8 Honorary Fellowship Awards for the year 2017. Recipients include Italian architect Mario Cucinella and architect Giancarlo Mazzanti, winner of the 2016 edition of the Next Landmark contest sponsored by Floornature.
The Honorary Fellowship Award is an annual award for architects who are not US citizens or residents whose work has made an important social and environmental contribution on the world architecture scene. The macro-goals established by the judges for the choice of candidates include making the profession of architecture of ever-increasing service to society, improving people’s standards of living through an improved environment, promoting the aesthetic, scientific and practical efficiency of architecture, etc. The jury, chaired by Diane Legg Kemp (RTKL Asia Ltd., Sheung Wan, Hong Kong), assigned 8 2017 AIA Honorary Fellowships to: Mario Cucinella (MC A Mario Cucinella Architects), Stein Halvorsen (Stein Halvorsen Arkitekter), Giancarlo Mazzanti (El Equipo de Mazzanti), Bong-Seok Oh (DONG IL Architects & Engineers Co.Ltd), José Luis Salinas (Arquitectura y Diseño SCMTM), Javier Sordo Madaleno Bringas (Grupo Sordo Madaleno), Bruno Stagno (Bruno Stagno Arquitecto y Asociados), Ishtiaque Zahir (Vitti Sthapati Brindo Ltd).
The awards ceremony will be held during the AIA Conference on Architecture 2017 scheduled for April 27 through 29 at Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, USA.
