Guillermo Vazquez Consuegra: Valencia Museum of the Age of Enlightenment

Museums, Sport & Wellness,

Designed by a team of architects under the coordination of Guillermo Vàzquez Consuegra, the museum was opened two years behind schedule.

Guillermo Vazquez Consuegra: Valencia Museum of the Age of Enlightenment The imposing atrium gives the building its public, institutional character, representing the node connecting the two main volumes with one another and with the adjacent garden.

The position of the main access in the volume connecting the two buildings means it opens onto the ground floor, facilitating communication between the two parts of the garden and giving the architecture its urban character.
The trend toward unity is divided by the gap of the ground floor, which makes the otherwise opaque volume of the construction transparent: this solution is a response to the urban character of the project.
The enigmatic opening at the beginning of the ramp on the first floor is the outcome of a conflict between the ideas of the architect and those of the clients.
