Out of all the projects presented for the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Frankfurt
- by Ingenhoven Architects (Dusseldorf), JSK Architects (Frankfurt), Lederer, Ragnarsdottir, Oei (Stuttgart), Reichel Stauth + Architects (Brunswick) – the jury chaired by Johann Eisele
chose the proposal from UNStudio (Ben van Berkel (Amsterdam)
, and Kohn, Pedersen, Fox (New York)
, whose tower is, according to van Berkel, intended to celebrate and emphasise Frankfurt’s cosmopolitan character.
It looks slender but straight and strong, complicated by a slight twist.
The skyscraper will contain a five-star hotel with 405 rooms and suites, a ballroom, a spa, restaurants, bars and a Sky Lounge on the top floor with an adjacent congress centre.
30 floors in all, on a total surface area of 54,562.70 square metres. The hotel will be located across from the already tall Tower 185.
