Giraldi Associati Architetti recently designed a house for the stylist behind the Manila Grace fashion brand.
The building is located in a low density residential neighbourhood in the province of Bologna, but stands out from its surroundings with its simple, clean shapes and use of materials conveying tactile sensations to the observer.
A double skin of bare concrete cladding characterises the construction and ensures that it meets energy conservation requirements; the overall vision is completed with large glass surfaces, sun breaks, reflective sunshades and a patio with a glulam structure.
The home has two levels above ground, and the play of opaque and clear volumes leaves some of the functions contained in the home visible from the outside.
The ground floor, with its porcelain flooring from Iris Ceramica’s E-Wood collection, contains the living room, kitchen and utility spaces. On the first floor the home has a study, a sitting room, bedrooms and bathrooms, and a large outdoor patio. The simple, linear furnishings in the living room and kitchen, with Baroque touches in the dining room, create contrasts and colour effects that boldly characterise the spaces containing them.
