The most outstanding architectural feature of the Gas Natural Group's headquarters, designed by Miralles and Tagliabue on the Barcelona waterfront, is a glass facade representing the imaginary bite of a shark jumping out of the nearby Mediterranean Sea.

Gas Natural Group, Enric Miralles and Benedetta Tagliabue, Barcelona The complex includes not only the central tower block but three additional architectural structures: a four-storey building shaped like a waterfall flowing into the sea, a building jutting out of the centre of the tower and, finally, the imaginary shark bite over the main entrance.
The lower part of the latter volume, representing the marks made by the shark's teeth, is created with an intermediate structural layer over an area measuring about 220 square metres.
It consists of 100 trapezoidal panels of stratified glass (DuPont - SentryGlas Plus) of different sizes, with high resistance and rigidity to guarantee safety and post-breakage properties. Each panel consists of an inner layer of 8 millimetre thick tempered glass plus a 1.52 millimetre layer and an outer layer of 8 millimetre thick tempered glass.
