Architecture practice Foster + Partners wins competition for new tower at 425 Park Avenue, New York.

Foster + Partners, 425 Park Avenue, New York Four leading architecture practices: Rem Koolhaas, Zaha Hadid, Norman Foster and Richard Rogers were invited to submit their projects for a new office tower at 425 Park Avenue, New York.

The building will house the offices of two important American holding companies, and Norman Foster designed the winning project.
The English architect designed a 200 m tall glass and steel tower. The tower appears to rise in three levels, separated by terraces offering panoramic views over Manhattan and Central Park.

In presenting the tower, Norman Foster stressed that his intention was to create a building “both of its time and timeless” as well as being respectful of the context, a tower that will provide an enduring landmark and that sets a new standard for office design with large, open spaces encompassing flexible.
Construction will begin in 2015 and it will be completed by late 2017.
