Il The Italian Chapter of the Royal Photographic Society (CIRPS) and Officine International have organised an initiative at “Gallerie VISIVA - La città dell’immagine” in Rome to collect funds for the victims of the May 2012 earthquake in Emilia.
Floornature is sponsoring the initiative, which includes a charity auction held free of charge by Sotheby’s and a photography exhibition.
An international commission chaired by CIRPS president Olivio Argenti FRPS selected the images to be auctioned off on February 21 2013: images by big names in photography such as Ernesto Bazan, Vasco Ascolini, Davide Monteleone and Angelo Turetta.
The exhibition includes 60 photos by Italian and international photographers, including plenty of CIRPS members, and will be open February 22 through March 9. Visitors may purchase the photos on exhibition to contribute to the fundraising effort. The photos may also be viewed online.
The proceeds from the initiative will go to Caritas in Modena to help families in Emilia who suffered in the earthquake, giving priority to families with disabled members, and Fondazione Francesca Rava - NPH Italia Onlus for reconstruction of ?La Lucciola? Integrated Therapy Centre for Children in Stuffione di Ravarino (MO).
