Fact Architects, Ronald McDonald Centre

Amsterdam,

Sport & Wellness,

An athletic complex for differently able children in Amsterdam designed by Fact Architects for the Ronald McDonald Foundation.

Fact Architects, Ronald McDonald Centre Fact Architects won Ronald McDonald’s competition for construction of a sports centre for children. The recently completed building was designed to enable children with different abilities to train in sports and feel like champions. At the centre of the composition is a clubhouse where parents and children can get together and socialise, and from which they can watch all the sports activities going on both indoors and outdoors. The centre incorporates numerous innovations, including a swimming pool with mobile walls and sensors that sound an alarm if a swimmer is in difficulty. The entire project was made possible by sponsorships and donations by individuals and all the parties involved in construction, from consultants to suppliers of materials.
