´Constructing Worlds – Photography and Architecture in the Modern Age exhibition

“Constructing Worlds – Photography and Architecture in the Modern Age” is the title of the exhibition organised by the Barbican Art Gallery, curated by Alona Pardo and Elias Redstone and designed by the Belgian architecture practice OFFICE JGDVS.
The evocative, poetic space underscores the musical rhythm of the photos on exhibition. A selection of photographs that emphasises the importance of the photographer in interpreting the architecture, something increasingly relevant in the age of the web, where visual information is an essential part of communication.
“Constructing Worlds – Photography and Architecture in the Modern Age” shows photos taken from the early 20th century through to now, including work by Berenice Abbott and Walker Evans, Julius Shulman, Lucien Hervé, photographer of Le Corbusier, Stephen Shore, through to Hélène Binet, Andreas Gursky and Iwan Baan.
The exhibition is a kind of visual narration discussing the great challenge of photographing architecture, where the photographer needs to interpret the design.
“Constructing Worlds – Photography and Architecture in the Modern Age” can be seen at the Barbican Art Gallery until 11 January 2015.
