The design by studio MVRDV contains explicit references to the world of comics, a source of entertainment for the young which has evolved into a highly sophisticated art form .
The building consists of a series of eight interconnected spheres, each with its own function: the hall, theatres, cinema, library of comics, etc.
The museum will have a total surface area of 30,000 m2, including parks, a plaza and a 13,000 m2 trade fair centre. Construction is due to begin in 2012.
