CF Møller has won the competition for expansion of Vendsyssel Hospital

CF Møller architectural studios has won the design competition for expansion and renovation of Vendsyssel hospital in Hjørring (Denmark).
The project presented by the architects of CF Møller underlines the overall architectural identity of the hospital complex, integrating the buildings and the landscape in a number of ways.
The new building has large transparent surfaces offering views of the big courtyard around which it is built. An internal pedestrian route ensures the flexibility of the hospital spaces and wards.

The architects have also designed a number of green areas, including some unusual ones such as a green oasis with a playground on the roof of the paediatric ward.
The judges praised "the ethos" of the project, which makes the building itself the first, particularly effective medicine for treatment of the patients in it.
The new building will be constructed in conformity with the low energy footprint requirements of the Green Building Council of Denmark's DGNB-DK Silver certification and is due to be completed in 2019.
