Wood has made a come-back in the constructions, floors and walls of contemporary architecture.

Always an evocative and fascinating material, wood is still a key to sustainable architecture, in which nature is seen as the starting point and the end point of the production process.

But the qualities we attribute to wood are primarily linked to how it is perceived, to the sensations it inspires and the emotions and cultural and, often, ancestral references that tie it to warm, cosy, safe places.

But natural stone, skilfully worked with today's technology, can be used to make much longer-lasting floor and wall coverings which look identical to wood.

When designing surfaces for the spaces in the home, Porcelaingres started with these sensations to come up with a line of wood-like porcelain tiles which are just like the natural material on the outside, but consolidated by the solidity of porcelain stoneware.

Their visual impact is the same as natural wood, with all the strength of stone, and, in terms of the production process, not a single leaf is harmed to make these floor and wall tiles.

As a much longer-lasting, stronger material, high-tech porcelain also has qualities wood cannot match, such as resistance to moisture and scratching and easy cleaning.

Many settings and climates are not suitable for natural wood, but wood-like porcelain can be used even in these non-ideal conditions, expanding the creative solutions available to designers.

Examples include outdoor surfaces such as balconies, patios, pathways and arcades: the atmospheric agents that easily damage wood will not harm porcelain tiles, which remain unaltered in the long term.

Wood-like porcelain tiles by Porcelaingres look just like a great variety of different types of wood, as is clear in the 6 available hues of the In_Wood collection (Maple, Acacia, Mulberry, Canaletto, Durmast, Black Oak) and the Grove Wood collection (Ice, Birch, Honey, Rust, Grey and Cocho).

The In_Wood collection tells “a story that may be read in the lines of the bark” and stands out for its ability to adapt to a wide range of different indoor and outdoor floor and wall styles.

Grove Wood, on the other hand, is "the most modern and advanced expression of wood-like porcelain tiles" elegantly combining evocation of the most classic of building materials with the strength of porcelain to offer the perfect modern floor and wall solution.
