Wallpaper purifies air for a healthy indoor environment

German company Blücher Systems has created Saratech® Permasorb Wallpaper, an innovative wall covering that helps ensure a healthy indoor environment, especially in older buildings that may contain hazardous substances. In fact, the wallpaper is capable of both removing toxins embedded in wall surfaces like PCBs, PCP, pesticides and radon, and filtering the air in the room in adorns.

Made of glass fiber and polyester, the covering includes thousands of miniscule spherical absorbers, which contain branching passages much like the interior of the human lungs. It therefore “breathes in” airborne pollutants and stores them in these tiny chambers. In addition to fighting air pollution, it also eliminates unpleasant odors. Thanks to its extraordinary eco-friendly qualities, this product received honorable mention at Material Connexion's 2010 Material of the Year awards ceremony earlier this year!
