The consummate sustainable architecture. CEI Architecture.
The Jim Pattison Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Building Technologies and Renewable Energy Conservation in Okanagan College, British Columbia responds to the strictest standards of the Living Building Challenge and students do their learning in a place that is a lesson in itself.

Setting a good example. This phrase suits to a tee the Jim Pattison Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Building Technologies and Renewable Energy Conservation in Okanagan College, Penticton, BC.

CEI, the Canadian architecture firm that designed the facility put all its consolidated experience in the sustainability field into the concept of this place where sustainable building practices are taught to the trade: from managers to tradespersons.

Water and energy use has been reduced to obtain the ambitious Living Building and LEED® Platinum certification, adopting a three-point, multidisciplinary approach: conservation, collection and creation. So, the facility incorporates solar panels, a green roof, local and FSC-certified timber.

Not only that, but the building concept is also as flexible as possible, so it can be rapidly adapted to technological change and progress.

CEI Architecture has come up with a building that is also a teaching tool, and the centre’s monitored environmental and performance figures are examples of this.
